Congratulations, President Obama!

It's over folks, and it was over the second the networks called Ohio. There is no feasible path to 270 electoral votes for John McCain. So, congratulations, Barack Obama, you are officially (well, according to me) the President-Elect. Now get to work! :)

The bar is set very, very high for Barack Obama and the Congress. They had better perform.

I would argue that the bar has been set very, very low - the Bush administration has been an unmitigated disaster. Expectations to leap over said bar are very, very high. :)

He's certainly inheriting a mess. It must feel like cleaning up all the rubble in Berlin at the end of WWII. Where do you even start? :)

big.bald.dave said...

You start by pulling out of Iraq as precipitously as prudent and possible. That frees up an awful lot of money to start repairing the rest of the mess.

The cows already came home - it's O-V-E-R.

BTW - very interesting comment from Jeffrey Toobin on CNN:

This is the fifth consecutive Presidential election in which the candidate with the superior military service record has lost.

And CNN just called the election. Woohoo! :D

That's a very funny video - saw it earlier today. Some people are really, really stupid.

Well, matt, at least I have a reason to be hopeful. I want my mortgage taken care of, too.

Excellent concession speech by John McCain - he was very magnanimous in defeat, and I certainly appreciate his call for unity and pledge to help Obama successfully govern.

Yes, I thought McCain's concession speech was very gracious, too.

So now that the election is over, what does the future hold for this Blog? Will it continue to have frequent posts? Or will everyone go back to focusing on their day jobs?

I, for one, am thrilled that the election is over and that maybe now we can talk more ethics/philosophy/humanity and less one specific candidate vs. another. :)

I had a nice comment typed out last night, but blogger ate it and I didn't notice until just now, so I'll say it again! I thought John McCain's concession speech was exceptionally gracious, and I was proud to call him my Senator. I wish there could have been more of that tone during the whole campaign - whoever's running these things now hopefully has gotten the message that what people want is grace, elegance, a candidate who is above dirty tactics and harsh words. We want somebody who is NICE, dang it, so stop thinking that the only way to win an election is to be the nastiest thug on the block!

I didn't vote for the guy... But I do hope that he'll make the most of his opportunity to take this country in a positive direction. :]
